Denver has lots of interesting sunsets, and each is different - and beautiful - in its own way. One evening when the sun went down behind the Rocky Mountains, I saw this sight and I scrambled for my camera and tripod. I've seen more colorful and spectacular sunsets, but I liked the way the sun lit up the top edge of the cloud bank, sending light rays out in all directions. When you see rays like that, it's because there is something in the atmosphere. It can be humidity, air pollution or other things. In this case it was smoke from the several wildfires that were burning in Colorado and California. I framed the shot with the Pepsi Center, home of the Colorado Avalanche and Denver Nuggets, in the foreground with Elich Gardens our local amusement park, just behind it. One of the best things about this shot is that it was so easy for me to shoot. I just stepped out onto our balcony and shot the pic. Way easier than the contortions I usually have to go through to get a photograph. Pepsi Center Sunset
